Frozen pipes are real concern for Southern Oregon residents during harsh winters. Rooterman recommends taking preventative steps during cold weather months.

Disconnect all garden hoses and cover faucets with insulated faucet covers.

Insulate any exposed pipes with a quality and correctly sized pipe insulation.

WINTER VACATIONS

When away from your home during an extreme winter, leaving a faucet dripping very slowly will provide relief from the excessive pressure that builds between the faucet and the ice blockage when freezing occurs.

Be careful how much you lower your heat. A lower thermostat may save on your heating bill, but there could be a disaster if a cold spell strikes and pipes that normally would be safe, freeze and burst.
